External audit in radiotherapy is a regulatory requirement in Brazil, driven by its mandatory inclusion in the regulatory framework established by the National Nuclear Energy Commission (CNEN). It is a key tool to ensure the quality, safety, and compliance of oncology services. This study presents the proposal for creating a National Collaborative Network for External Auditing in Radiotherapy, based on the analysis of the profile, competencies, and interest of certified medical physicists in the country. The research employed a quantitative methodology, approved by the Research Ethics Committee (Protocol No. 86634625.7.0000.5259), and involved questionnaires applied to medical physicists working in radiotherapy across all regions of Brazil. The results indicated that 73 professionals expressed interest in joining the Network, with 82% meeting CNEN criteria to conduct external audits. Additionally, 80% reported experience with advanced technologies, and 67% use SEVVRA as their primary risk analysis tool. The findings indicate the technical and operational feasibility of the network, and its implementation can directly contribute to the regulatory and care quality of radiotherapy in Brazil. This collaborative model, inspired by international models such as the National Repository of Radiotherapy Plans, represents a strategic advance for the practice of medical physics in Brazil.
